Dr. Cara Detmer

Dr. Cara Detmer, as many of Detmer Family Dentistry’s patients know, is Dr. Margaret Anne Detmer’s daughter. She was born and raised in the Wichita community. She attended Bishop Carrol Catholic High School, and then went on to become a Shocker at Wichita State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree. She was also on the Wichita State Track and Field team where she competed in pole vaulting. She still currently holds the Bishop Carroll school record and is in the top 10 all time school record at Wichita State for indoor and outdoor track.

Dr. Cara was then accepted to Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated in 2019 with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and moved back home to Wichita. She began working part time here at Detmer Family Dentistry and part time at GraceMed public health clinic. Dr. Cara served the Wichita community for two years working at GraceMed. She has now transitioned to working full time with her mother at Detmer Family Dentistry. She has been a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, and the Wichita District Dental Society for the past three years now. She has also volunteered her dental services at the Kansas Mission of Mercy ever since high school and the Donated Dental Servies program for the past three years as well.

Dr. Cara Detmer’s favorite thing about dentistry is forming lasting relationships with her patients and their families. She also values helping patients feel more confident in their smile and educating patients on how to take care of their teeth in order to maintain their smile for as long as possible. Her top priority is making sure her patients feel comfortable and have no questions regarding their oral health.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Cara is usually spending time with her family, her friends, and her dog, Harley. She also enjoys working out and anything involving the outdoors such as fishing, archery, hiking, and traveling.
